Belly Dance Classes & Instructors
Registration Information
Pre-registration is recommended for session payments. Send completed registration form (download here) and payment to Three Graces Entertainment, P.O. Box 176, Lewisville, NC 27023 Be sure to specify your class choice/s at the bottom of the registration form. Registration and payment for sessions will also be accepted at the first class of the session.

Session Payments: 6 wks/$49 for one class per week; 6 wks/$58 for two classes per week. Minimum 5 registered students required at the first class of the session for a class to be held.

Classes Attire Recommendations
You may wear comfortable work-out clothes to class, such as yoga or jazz pants, leggings, or harem pants. A close-fitting exercise top is recommended so your instructor can check body posture and alignment. A hip scarf, coin belt, or coin scarf is optional. Coin scarves are available for purchase in class, upon request. A costume is not required for class. Locally, Augustine's Boutique at The Sunrise Peddler has a fine selection of belly dance attire, jewelry, dance shoes, and more. The boutique is located at 3561 Clemmons Road, Clemmons, NC 27012. Class Descriptions

Introduction to Belly Dance
This class is for the absolute beginner. The instructor teaches correct belly dance posture, basic isolation moves, such as hip drops; figure 8s; torso, head, and hip slides; hip circles and a few traveling moves. For all ages who want a solid foundation in belly dance basics. Instructors: Kharma and Lalita, Sundays 1:30-2:30 p.m.

Belly Dance for Fun and Fitness
Designed to increase flexibility and provide an aerobic workout, this class offers participants a fun, upbeat way to get moving. Following a warm-up, a short technique section is taught (approx. 10 minutes), then belly dance moves are incorporated into a short combination of traveling belly dance moves. Finally a yoga-based cool down completes the class. Suitable for all ability levels. Instructor: Saphira (Teresa Dickerson) Wednesdays 5:30-7 p.m., Tuesday p.m. class will resume Fall, 2008.

Belly Dance Technique
The emphasis of this class is building a strong foundation in technique to prepare dancers for units of choreography study. Intermediate Level. Choreography performance is optional. Instructor: Saphira (Teresa Dickerson) Wednesdays 7:30-8:30 p.m.

Belly Dance Choreography Classes
The choreography classes are designed for those who have studied belly dance for 6 months or longer and who have a solid foundation of basic belly dance moves. This includes choreography classes for The Graces Dance Troupe and the Hipnotix Dance Troupe. The choreography classes teach dance routines for performance purposes. Instructor approval is required. Instructor: Saphira (Teresa Dickerson)

Teen Belly Dance
This teen belly dance class targets young ladies who have had little to no prior belly dance training. This class is for those looking to try something new and informative, and for those looking to get serious about dance. Students will learn to stretch properly, and will learn basic belly dance moves, and combinations. Belly dance is not only a great way to stay in shape, but it is also a great way to have fun, make new friends and even build confidence. There may even be opportunities for performance in the community. Instructor: Lalita Holt. Saturdays 11-12 noon

Mother Earth Belly Dance
Focus is on the health benefits of the belly dance moves. No prior dance experience is necessary.The instructor will cover belly dance posture, basic isolation moves such as head, torso and hip circles and slides, drops and figure 8's and simple traveling moves. Attention will be given to isolation and strengthening the core muscles of the body such as muscles of the back, neck, diaphragm, abdomen and pelvis. Sessions will include gentle warm-ups, cool-downs, teaching of the basic belly dance rhythms and group dancing. Instructor: Febe Jackson. Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:45-10:45 a.m.

Tribal Fusion Belly Dance
Tribal fusion belly dance is an incorporation of dance moves that are influenced by American Tribal, Classical Egyptian, hip hop, and Bhangra, just to name a few. In six week sessions, we will explore current trends in Tribal Fusion; layering, introduction of more advanced combinations, and zill technique. Focus on troupe performance will be the objective of this class . A typical class will include a short warm up, a review of basic moves, an introduction to new combinations to be used in choreographies, and a short cool down. This class is suitable for all ages. Instructor: Kharma (Beverly Whitt) Wednesdays 8:30-9:30 p.m.
